Prysmian Group welcomed its second class to its Research and Development Center in Lexington this month. Opened last year, the 54,000 square foot academy brings together experts from around the globe to discover smart, sustainable solutions and expand Prysmian’s impact worldwide.

“As the only innovation hub of its kind in the U.S., Prysmian’s Lexington R&D Center has seen tremendous success within its first course cycle,” said Hakan Ozmen, CEO of Prysmian Group North America. “It’s incredible to watch the innovation taking place behind those walls, and we’re excited to watch it continue with this new class of engineers.”

Students were immersed in a weeklong training session featuring a series of interactive lectures and demonstrations led by top innovators from Prysmian’s product development team. Activities allowed participants to interact with Prysmian’s products, while engaging with leading experts in the field on a range of emerging trends and technologies in the telecom cables industry.  Highlights from the agenda included a Fiber Splicing demonstration led by Prysmian’s Director of Product Management, Jon Fitz, and a Nanotechnology overview presented by Prysmian’s materials innovation expert, Don Parris.

Classes will commence for Prysmian’s third group of international trainees in October of 2018.
