What is FlexRibbon® Technology
Conventional “Flat” Ribbons are made by encapsulating 12 optical fibers in a rigid array. This allows mass-fusion splicing but poses limitations. FlexRibbon® Technology uses intermittent bonds between fibers. The resulting flexible unit can also be mass-fusion spliced and overcomes the limitations of the older technology.
Very High-Fiber Count FlexRibbon®Cables
Toggle DetailsOne early focal point for FlexRibbon® technology was to increase the fiber count for common duct sizes. Prysmian Group now offers counts of 1728 to 6912 that are optimized for 1-1/4”, 1-1/2” or 2” duct. Some are offered with 250-micron fiber, while others are made smaller with 200-micron fiber.
