Overview

Designed to maximize fiber density and duct space utilization

Prysmian Group’s FlexRibbon® Technology continues to break barriers for fiber density and user-friendliness. The product line includes fiber counts as high as 6,912 in a super-compact design. But the features don’t stop there. New additions include microduct and flame-rated designs. New designs are constantly being added, so check in often to see our latest offerings.

Conventional “Flat” Ribbons are made by encapsulating 12 optical fibers in a rigid array. This allows mass-fusion splicing but poses limitations. FlexRibbon® Technology uses intermittent bonds between fibers. The resulting flexible unit can also be mass-fusion spliced and overcomes the limitations of the older technology.

One early focal point for FlexRibbon® technology was to increase the fiber count for common duct sizes. Prysmian Group now offers counts of 1728 to 6912 that are optimized for 1-1/4”, 1-1/2” or 2” duct. Some are offered with 250-micron fiber, while others are made smaller with 200-micron fiber. Click through to our product datasheets for details.

Microduct cables provide a popular and efficient way to deploy cable. However, many customers want ribbon because it’s easy to splice. Traditional (flat) ribbons aren’t compatible with microduct, but FlexRibbon technology is. Click through to our product datasheets for details.

Bring the many benefits of flexible ribbons indoors. Small size and easy handling are available in cables that can be used entirely indoors or brought into a building with no need for a transitional splice. Click through to our product datasheets for details.

Hero cables like our 6912 are impossible without FlexRibbon technology. Yet, this technology also brings game-changing benefits to lower fiber counts. Click through to our product datasheets for details.
