Prysmian-owned General Cable and leading cabling and connectivity solutions provider Panduit took home three top Cabling Innovators Awards yesterday at the BICSI Conference in San Antonio, TX. Nominees were evaluated by a panel of cabling and communications experts who chose products and initiatives based on innovation, value, sustainability, collaboration, and impact.

The PanGen® Cable partnership was recognized in the Platinum category (the highest possible award) for providing innovative cabling infrastructure to a lighting project installed at The Waldinger Corporation in West Des Moines, Iowa. The Platinum-winning solution  utilized Power over Ethernet (PoE) to power LED lighting via an application that delivers both data and power via a single twisted-pair cable. The outcome significantly improved lighting performance, as well as control and intelligence. The project featured GENISYS® PoE Lighting System from Innovative Lighting which was installed on a PanGen® structured cabling platform.

The PanGen® partnership also won two prestigious Gold awards:

  • Next Generation Category 6A Copper Cable – Panduit and General Cable introduced the next generation of Category 6A copper cabling earlier this year. The award-winning solution delivers the smallest cable diameter (0.250”) in a Category 6A cable, which leads to improved pathway capacity and easier installation. Two versions of the cable are available. One has a solid barrier tape and the second has a barrier tape that is cut into segments of varying length, providing the added benefit of delivering the best EMI immunity in an unshielded cable.
  • Children’s Health – Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Plano, Texas has implemented a PanGen® structured cabling solution, which enables a wide variety of technology-enhanced applications to treat pediatric athletes with next-generation care.

“It is rewarding to receive this recognition from the structured cabling industry,” said Craig Snyder, Director of Telecom Business, BU Multimedia Solutions in North America, Prysmian Group. “For over 14 years, we have joined forces with Panduit to deliver a range of innovative fiber and copper cabling solutions to the market, and now, with Prysmian Group onboard, we believe our PanGen®  partnership will be stronger than ever.”

“Panduit has a history of innovation, which has consistently been recognized by the CI&M judges during this annual awards program,” said Panduit’s Tom Kelly, Vice President of the Enterprise Business. “It is more important than ever to have a high-quality structured cabling system in place to support new applications. We’re excited to be part of cutting-edge projects like these, with products that make a difference.”
